Sunday

The song is performed by Sonic Youth, one of my favorite post-punk bands.
I really can´t remember when i hear the song first time, maybe at the end of the 90´s, but i remember clearly when i was walking to the school with my headphones, listening the hipnotic sonic-waves of Sunday, dreaming to play guitar in a rock & roll band.

I think i like the song because it´s so simple. the lyrics are frank, they express daily stuff, not stilted poetry or decorative constructions, some famous architecs says "less is more".
Today is always welcome a little blood in a song, to much post-production can kill an album.
The guitars are awesome, they make a "sound-storm" playing the guitars like layers, even some guitar-riffs get you through intense atmospheres and makes you feel hundred of guitars playing at the same time.
a really good song!!,.... i miss music like this one.

Sunday
Sonic Youth
Album : A Thousand Leaves, 1998

Sunday comes alone again
A perfect day for a quiet friend
And you, you will set it free
I see new morning yound your face
Everybody says it's another phase
And now, now it's come to me
See the magic in your eyes
I see it come as no surprise
And you, you turn your eyes away
Yeah, you, you turn it all away
I guess it's true, it's never too late
Still I don't know what to do today
Oh, why can't I set you free?
Will you do the same for me?
Sunday comes and sunday goes
Sunday always seems to move so slow
To me, here she comes again
A perfect ending to a perfect day
A perfect ending, what can I say
To you, lonely sunday friend?
With you, Sunday never ends

Should De Niro be a New York tourist figure?

The article talks about the new tourist political of the New York City, for attract visitors after 9/11 attack. Basically, explain in a humoristic or sarcastic way, the Robert the Niro choice like “the tourist figure” of the city by the major Michael Bloomberg.

The author ask himself why the city council try to reconstruct the city image, trough the revival of film characters from 20 or 30 years ago, like “taxi driver” or “mean streets”.

To take the image of the legendary characters seems to be a perfect tool for reactivate the tourist activity, because the people, who visit the city, had a nostalgic image about it. So, to get a meet with a film characters, turn the visits much more attractive for the tourist. Obviously, the city council can get some benefits of it

Finally, the author says the New York City doesn’t need a person to sale the city image, because the city and the movies speak by themselves.

Personally, I like the city very much, but , like an architecture estudent, I rather make different ways to create new tourist activity…..and I don’t like the major!!!

book review

long time ago i used to read a lot of novels for pleasure, it was a deeply -rooted habit from childhood , but from the start of the college, my freetime has lesseaned, and now the most kind of books i read, are about architecture.
however, i keep in mind many novels that make a change in my reading apreciation. actually some books still are referents in my architecture design work.
One of them is "el picadero", from a chilean writer Adolfo Couve´s work, this novel was the first i read about him, and was really moving because the descriptive way of narration is brilliant, ( he was also a painter) so, his way to show the narrative world is very graphic, and seems to make layers that shape an history, actually , the hystory is not the most important part of the novel, but the way he talk about all this melancholic lanscapes ( characters , places, ages,) and how he link them , make his work a master piece of intensity.
